RECREATIONAL CRAFT DIRECTIVE?

Who benefits from the European Recreational Craft Directive?

Compliance with the directive 2013/53/EU is a basic requirement for yacht manufacturers to access the internal market of the European Union. No new boat can be sold in the EU without CE certification.

It also minimises the significant risks of liability in the event of damage and claims arising from the applicable product liability law, and offers boat manufacturers and buyers a high degree of legal certainty.

It is not least an economic advantage to sell a verifiably safe vehicle to the customer. Many future owners of boats and yachts appreciate this when they entrust their lives to a marine-going yacht.

The requirement is that the documents to be processed and the practical inspection of the boats be carried out in accordance with the European Recreational Craft Directive 2013/53/EU.
